YMCA Teen Programs: Teen Driven - Teen Led

Teens - YMCA Programs promote an appreciation of one's own worth

The YMCA wants to provide teens with personal, social and recreational programs in a safe and positive environment that will enhance personal and social skills, teach leadership and responsibility, and promote individual self-esteem. With the YMCA's core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility, your teen will grow new friendships, build confidence and discover personal talents. We offer teens a variety of programs to meet their varied interests. Junior Teen Achievers, Teen Achievers, Teen Leaders Club, Youth & Government, Counselors in Training (CIT), Adventure Clubs, competitive swim teams, and teen dances and teen nights... we give teens a place to grow and learn. Our YMCA programs empower teens to make a difference in the community in which they live. Caring dedicated adults are there to listen to them and help them navigate the challenges, changes and choices associated with adolescence.

YMCA Leaders' Club:

The goal of Leaders Club is to promote and enhance the personal growth and social skills of young people in order to develop leaders who will be a positive force in the community. Starting each September, members meet twice a month and work closely with peers and advisors on skill and character building activities, as well as plan and organize club projects. For more information, contact Cara Green at 978-685-3541.

YMCA Youth & Government:

YMCA Youth & Government uses the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to teach teens in grades 9-12 how they can participate in the democratic process. Participants have opportunities to develop skills, make friends and learn how they can make a difference in their community and state.

Local YMCA students have the opportunity to attend a legislative weekend at the State House in Boston and meet other youth from around Massachusetts while they work on their legislative agenda and billa.

The motto of YMCA Youth & Government is ‘Democracy must be learned by each generation' and we work toward that goal by teaching that every person can make a difference and that understanding and participating in government is for everyone.
