Camp Nokomis Director
Debbie Parker, Camp Nokomis Director, has been a camp leader at Camp Nokomis since 1952!
Born and raised in Winchester, MA, Debbie is an honors graduate of Winchester High School and Wellesley College and has a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
As a child, Debbie attended a camp in Maine for six years. For five of those summers, she attended for the full season.
When Camp Nokomis opened as a small private camp in 1952, Debbie was one of the first counselors-in-training (also known as a C.I.T.). She's been at Nokomis ever since, working as a cabin counselor and activities instructor, then as the Program Director for 22 years. She has been the Camp Director since 1975.
Debbie has taught tennis, sailing, waterskiing, several crafts and canoeing. She has led the C.I.T. Program at Nokomis since the late 1950s.
She is a mother of three grown children, two daughters and a son, and is a grandmother of five. Debbie has a broad experience in camping, youth work, program development, administration, fundraising and Christian Education.
She has belonged to the American Camp Association (ACA) for over 40 years, participating in its training events and is a recipient of the ACA's Pioneer in Camping Award. Debbie is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church.
