LAWRENCE YMCA CHILDREN RECEIVE BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES FROM GLCAC AND ‘CRADLES TO CRAYONS’

Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. donated 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to children of the Lawrence Branch of the Merrimack Valley YMCA. This donation came through 'Cradles to Crayons,' a non-profit agency whose mission is to provide needy and deserving children, from infancy to age 12, with everyday supplies. Since 2002, Cradles to Crayons has served over 40,000 children-in-need. In 2005 alone, 25,000 local children received high-quality children's goods to keep them warm, safe at home, and ready to learn at school.

According to Charles L.  LoPiano, assistant executive director of Greater Lawrence Communitiy Action Council (GLCAC), “we distributed 200 backpacks to children of the Lawrence YMCA because of GLCAC’s long-standing affiliation and our collaboration with the YMCA.”

“The children appreciated the backpacks and school supplies. We thanks Cradles to Crayons and GLCAC for their generosity. It’s great to see our students with these much needed school supplies that they can take home with them,” said Francis J. Kenneally, III, YMCA District Executive Director.
