Merrimack Valley YMCA receives summer programming grant from Essex County Community Foundation
The Merrimack Valley YMCA's Lawrence Branch, Methuen Branch, and Camping Services Branch have all been awarded grants from the Greater Lawrence Summer Fund, a fund of the Essex County Community Foundation to support summer programming for youth at each branch.
Since 1990 the Greater Lawrence Summer Fund (GLSF) has provided a collaborative process for donors seeking to support enriching summer opportunities for inner-city youth and agencies in need of funds for their programs. Originally administered by the Stevens Foundation, the ECCF became the GLSF's administrator in 2001. The Fund supports high quality innovative programs which keep young people active and engaged during the summer.
ECCF was established in January of 1999 to increase local philanthropy and provide support to non-profit organizations located in and serving Essex County. The Foundation offers all the philanthropic, grantmaking, financial, and tax expertise needed to engage in effective, inspired charitable giving. ECCF stewards 80 charitable funds held in over $10 million in assets, and since its inception has awarded over $7 million in grants to local organizations. The Foundation's mission is to "to help you help your community".
