The Merrimack Valley YMCA offers several competitive team teams: the Hurricanes Competitive Swim Team; Masters Swim Team; and the Synchers Synchronized Swim Team.

The Andover/North Andover YMCA Hurricanes Swim Team draws swimmers ages 6 through high school from throughout the Merrimack Valley region.  The team competes in Division I of the Eastern Massachusetts YMCA District as well as in U.S. Swimming. The program serves swimmers from the pre-team level to those competing at the YMCA National level. Central themes in the YMCA sport philosophy are: Teaching fundamental skills, encouraging lifetime involvement in physical activity, strengthening self-respect and respect for others and engendering the thrill and challenge of competition.
