The Merrimack Valley YMCA uses volunteers every day to create a lasting and positive change in our community. Opportunities are available for individuals, corporations, and service organizations to be part of our efforts to make a significant impact in the areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Examples of volunteer opportunities include:
Food Pantry Assistant
The Lawrence YMCA has opened a food pantry to serve children and families in the city. We are looking for volunteers to help out on Thursdays from 3:30 pm-6:00 pm. Duties include assisting families with food shopping, loading bags/boxes for families, restocking shelves, and sorting and stacking donations. Volunteers will work with YMCA staff and coordinator, Cathy Flynn. The food pantry at the Lawrence YMCA is a part of the Y’s Year-Round Food program, which is committed to ending child hunger and creating a healthier, stronger community. This is an opportunity to truly make a difference for families in your community.
Help serve teen dinners at the Lawrence YMCA. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 4:30-5:30. Volunteers will work with YMCA staff and coordinator, Cathy Flynn. Teen dinners are part of the Y’s Year-Round Food program, which is committed to ending child hunger and creating a healthier, stronger community.
Preschool Classroom Assistant
Make crafts, read, snack prep in one our preschool classrooms.
Assist teen programs with homework;provide support and guidance.
Coaching, scorekeeping, refereeing in one of sports programs.
Answer phones, file, make copies, provide administrative support.
Volunteer as one of our special event committee members (auction, golf tourney etc).
Assist with interior and exterior maintenance of facilities.
Help raise funds so that everyone has the opportunity to participate in Y programs.
Board of Managers/Directors
Supports the membership development and fundraising initiatives of the Merrimack Valley YMCA.
